A Year Without Numbing Out (And the Sudden Stop That Changed Everything)
A few days ago, a quiet notification popped up on my phone: 365 days.
One whole year without alcohol.
Not the first time - many of you will know I previously went a few years without alcohol. However it crept back in, and not only did it creep in, there were certainly nights when far too much crept in!
The Time Since app
I downloaded this app to help with a fast that I was doing and decided to challenge myself to see if I could go a month no alcohol - little did I know the universe had other plans and how radically my life and business were about to be changed - thanks burst appendix!

In the online business world, we are constantly bombarded with messages telling us to become "daily sales machines," to chase relentless volume, and to build frantic, hyper-active ecosystems that require us to be plugged in 24/7.
If you know me, you'll know that just does not resonate
It is a world that mistakes exhaustion for achievement.
And the noise it creates gives you a natural urge to numb out at the end of the day, just to survive the chaos you signed up for.
For me that is what alcohol was - a way of numbing out the world (and other stuff but that's for another day)
I didn't choose a year of complete clarity.
It wasn't some big brave business decision to step off the hamster wheel.
But the universe, it seems, wanted to make sure I locked the door behind me.
The Forced Intervention
A few weeks into this new commitment to no alcohol, my appendix burst.
In true Linda style I didn't do it simply - I did it during a doctor strike that meant hours sat in A&E that led to peritonitis, life saving surgery and a long, slow recovery.
In the past, a crisis like that might have felt like a cruel interruption to my plans.
Looking back now, it felt more like the universe stepped in

I could no longer wing it on adrenaline anymore.
I couldn't even sit at a desk.
Busyness simply wasn't an option. I was forced into total, uninterrupted rest.
Withdrawing, On Purpose
Redirection: From Outward Noise to Inner Alignment
When you are forced to a complete standstill, you actually learn how peace works.
You realise sanctuary isn't somewhere you travel to.
It's already there
When the outside world gets shut out, whether I choose it or a burst appendix chooses it for me, something happens.
You stop being pulled out by your senses all the time and you come back into yourself.
You notice how the body actually feels. Any aches, any tension, any places holding on.
You notice what's running through the mind, and you let it sit to one side. Not gone, just not the focus. The past is gone anyway. The future hasn't happened.
All there really is, is this breath, right here.
This isn't about clinical shortcuts or quick-fix marketing tricks. It's the practice Paramhansa Yogananda taught, long before I ever needed it that badly. From that quiet centre, the need to hustle just isn't there anymore.
An Invitation
I'm sharing this today because I'm opening the digital sanctuary I've been building.
This is for anyone who's quietly exhausted by the constant demand to produce, push through, keep up.
You don't need more busyness. You don't need another app/book/calendar prompt or another system that treats you like a machine.
That burst appendix taught me, the hard way, to stop and actually rest. Turns out that's when you build something that actually lasts.
I'm opening 3 spaces inside ClarityFlow for gentle, asynchronous guidance. Not live coaching. Not another packed schedule. A quiet, steady space where we work at your pace, and you get to come back to your own centre.
If that's calling you, reply to this email or send me a message.
Not sure what Clarityflow is - just ask
With peace and stillness, Linda xx
