What/Who is GOD?

What/Who is GOD?

Well, if ever there was a word that produces an immediate emotional reaction in any of my classes, this would be it

GOD

A word that is used over and over in everyday life.

If you do not see/hear one OMG per day, did you even engage in the outer world?

It is one of the most familiar words in our vocabulary, yet it is a very confusing word. A word that I have found to have a profound meaning, BUT it took me years to get there.

What does that word GOD actually mean?

As a word it has no meaning unless you apply some theology or a set of beliefs to define it. It is a difficult word to define and tends to only mean what someone elses dogmatic explanation gave it.

Ask someone what God means to them and you will likely get a response such as

I don't believe in God
I am spritual but I am not religious

The dictionary merriam webster gives this definition;

Here are some other definitions I picked up over the years

Cosmic consciousness, infinite, beyond and within all creation, omnipresent, ever-existing, Spirit.

God cannot be known by intellect or the mind, we have to feel, experience, realise His existence (I will come to the Him/Her debate later)

The true purpose of life on earth is to know God

God is the quiet inner peace that we experience in meditation

God is the supreme unmanifested absolute Spirit

The causeless Spirit beyond all creation

God is one, centre everywhere, circumference nowhere

Your own higher consciousness

So many words to describe one 3 letter word!

So many words to describe one 3 letter word!

I was once told, God is simple, all else is complex. The mind is drawn to complexity, the heart likes lots of desires and here the confusion begins.

Personally, I think that words are useless to describe what the experience of knowing God is.

We each need to have our own conversation/relationship with him.

OK, let's quickly address the HIM/HER

Male/female pronouns exist at the human level.

God as Spirit is beyond human form and therefore beyond the division of sex, there is no duality. Language gets us all tied in knots and takes us off track, it is a conversation for another day, another blog.

As humans we are limited to a 3D experience of body, senses, knowledge, power and language. God/Spirit/Source is omnipotent/omniscient.

So, for us to try and understand or experience God in 3D, well, that is very limiting and confining - how can we possibly put limit on something that is infinite?

It is beyond the comprehension of human mind and senses, understood through intuition and soul perception. Experienced in stillness, at the centre of our being, the journey to God/Spirit/Source is inward NOT outward.

This is not religion - this relationship has no man made dogma and rules to follow.

It is not being guided by someone elses interpretation when we are more than capable of having our own experience.

I teach methods to get our body still, our mind calm and for us to create the space in our human life to experience what God is.

The Sanskrit for God is

Sat Chit Ananda

Ever Existing, Ever Conscious, Ever New Bliss

Here is a great reel where Asha, a teacher that I follow talks about God and that ever existing, ever conscious, ever new bliss that is God

In coming weeks I will share classes and meditations on the;

8 manifestations of God

We will look at, and discuss how we are a channel of God's Spirit when it is manifested as

LOVE

PEACE

LIGHT

SOUND

CALM

ENERGY

WISDOM

DIVINE JOY

At different times and in different situations we will resonate with different manifestations of God.

If we can put aside our human limitations and the restraints of our thinking minds we can remember where we come from and what we are.

My hope is that you will find the path that leads you closer to that union with God. That your individual soul will merge once again with Spirit as you remember or realise that you are that Spirit, ever existing, ever conscious, ever new bliss.

I look forward to conversations with you as our souls navigate their path home.

The destination is the same for all. The route, the views and the methods are all unique. Let's help each other take that next step.

God hides himself and yet he advertises himself in the flowers, in the gentle breeze and in all other lovely things. You don't see his name written in these things but you behold a hint of his presence, he says follow the trail of beauty, I'm hidden somewhere in it's heart.

Paramhansa Yogananda

God sleeps in the rocks, dreams in the plants, stirs toward wakefulness in the animals, and in mankind is awake to his own ego - individuality.

Indian scripture

Though I manifest Myself in all things, I am identified with none of them.

Bhagavad Gita

God is for everyone

Everybody is looking for God, but, not everyone is conscious of that search.

We are all using different methods to find that Ever Existing, Ever Conscious, Ever New Bliss.

Our individual soul knows that it is looking BUT our ego gets in the way.

EGO - a conversation for another day
